@love It's a similar substance, no doubt. Both are pollutants of the modern world. in the context of mercury in fish, according to Aajonus, the body only absorbs 2-8% of the mercury and the rest is passed through stool.

@rawmeat I didnt taste iron in like after 1-2 months of 500g raw liver per week. So my theory is that I ate high amounts of raw liver at one sitting and that caused detox, and the syptomps were euphoria and exactly that metallic taste. Now i genuinely can say i dont taste the iron at all. If you eat smaller amounts at a time the time the irony taste will leave takes longer as the detox is slower. The main thing is that the irony taste might not be the iron, its actually taste of your own industrial metals being pulled out of storage by raw liver enzymes and nutrients, then passing through your saliva, and spitting it out. I have noticed after I started eating liver that I have spitted much more. Its a good sign because your body is pulling the toxins out. I am very noob in the detox subject but thats what I have read. Feel free to correct me.

@Swansven Yeah that’s what people miss with Weston Price. His work shows what prevents degeneration, not what maximises human development. The presence of some prepared plant foods doesn’t imply necessity or optimality, it reflects environmental constraint. When animal foods were abundant, they dominated. When they weren’t, plants were processed to reduce damage. Weston Price never, not once showed that seeds or grains improved outcomes, only that traditional processing reduced how much harm they caused. The moment refined grains, sugars, and modern plants entered, degeneration began immediately. So the takeaway isn’t "humans need plants" it’s “humans can tolerate plants under constraint.” Raw animal foods were always the developmental anchor.

cow's milk tastes a thousand times better. i lived in a farm with both goats and cows and goats milk has this extremely weird earthy after taste that can stay in your mouth for a day. I didnt notice any of the hyperactive issues when i drank it even though i am someone that is prone to anxiety thoughts and hyperactivity. i think if you can get raw cows milk get that, and if you cant then get goat milk, it is still good nutritional wise

If she makes an argument about the gut microbiome/gut flora benefits, tell her that first of all, mainstream science doesn't even understand the first thing about the gut microbiome. We don't even really know universally what a 'healthy' gut microbiome looks like. Secondly, tell her that we have analyzed the Inuit before they were industrialized and they had excellent gut microbial diversity with a zero fiber diet. Generally, all they ate was seal blubber.

Many people have done it without issue. If you can get higher quality like organic beef then I would. All you have to really worry about is eating poor quality raw filtration organs like livers or kidneys, as these accumulate toxins far worse than the muscle meat and can make you sick.

I ought to make a post about this. I highly recommend seafood, especially if you are eating conventional omega-6 heavy eggs. It's a big part of non-industrialized tribe's diet, the issue being that the waters on this planet are now incredibly toxic and polluted. I'm pretty sure it's a good idea to stay away from predatory fish like swordfish or tuna, that being said they have a lot of selenium which can neutralize the heavy metals. Not sure how big of an issue it is. Salmon, contrary to popular belief are probably the most toxic fish you can eat. They will literally make you sick. I recommend watching Resident Raw's video on it. Essentially all the "wild caught" salmon on the earth are either farmed GMO salmon or just wild caught GMO salmon. regardless, you're likely getting a genetically modified freak of nature on your plate. For seafood recommendations on the diet, I would say that oysters and mussels are great because of the mineral content and low toxicity. Next, I would say small fish that you can eat with the bones like sardines or smelt are great if you can get them outside of a can. Canned foods are extremely toxic due to metal leeching and phthalates. I believe they were rumored to be the cause of a certain pandemic, although don't quite remember which one. Another amazing omega-3 source is brain. The richest source of DHA and cholesterol, if you can get your hands on it for cheap, go for it. In short, I think oysters and brain are the best of the best when it comes to sources of omega-3s

I don't find moldy, rotten or fermented foods to be disgusting; in fact, I am quite drawn to moldy foods. At the end, yoghurt is fermented milk, and nobody finds it to be repulsive. It is only what you are used to and grew up with that shapes your belief.

@leo Gotta agree with you there. There's something about the taste of that nice grass fed beef that beats the grains.

That's really odd that you got sick. I would go with raw fish, particularly smaller, non-predatory ones that don't accumulate as many heavy metals. I would also ask the butcher questions about the organs if you haven't already. Something like "was this fed only grass?" or "Was this given any antibiotics?" things like that let you know that it's safe to eat raw or in general.
