Does eating a lot of sugar actually cause acne?
-
It is commonly said that sugar causes acne.
If acne is a way for the body to detox itself like how Aajonus said, how does this work? Is the statement "Sugar causes acne" even true to begin with? -
Being in a state of glycolysis does not inherently trigger acne, so, no, sugar in and of itself does not trigger acne. In my experience, I can have lots of sugar and it will not trigger any acne. If the sugar you speak of comes from anywhere but organic fruit then its likely not the sugar causing acne. Sugar does trigger an igf-1 which triggers sebum production which supposedly causes acne but protein causes a much much larger igf-1 release than carbs. I dont think its the sugar itself causing your acne. I think its either the pesticides on the fruit or if the sugar is from anywhere else then the toxins within that food
