What is goata?

-
GOATA stands for Greatest of All Time Actions/Athletes. This is a way of moving that is most aligned with what is observed in infants, indigenous tribes, and elite athletes.
-
Essentially, It's the natural way of moving. Natural movement, of course, is a component of health. You would naturally be moving around in nature, exploring, hunting, and having fun. In the modern world, we are forced to do things like sitting in chairs all day, which is not natural and causes many issues. Back pain, structural degradation, stiff, tight fascia, and countless other issues occur.
-
Many people with these issues report great benefit and are able to restore their movement by following the core principles of GOATA.
Here are some core principles of GOATA to maintain natural movement:
-
Back Chain Dominance

When moving around, you want your movement to be back chain dominant, focusing on driving it with the hips. They should remain behind the ribcage. Rely less on the front of your body to move. -
Foot and Ankle

You want to land on the ball of your foot and engage all of your toes. Your foot should land straight. This allows you to use your foot arch like a spring. This reduces joint impact. -
Spiral mechanics

The limbs and torso should move in a spiral, not a linear or two-dimensional movement. It emphasizes down, back, and out, like a spiral staircase.
It may take you a while to adapt to this movement depending on how you moved before, but in the end it will help you out by relieving your pain and healing your fascia.

Ive been seeing this for many years on social media but i was never that interested in it until the last month or so when ive been seeing it more. I've seen this one guy on tiktok, hammer toes or something is his name i think, ive been doing some of his recommended exercises to help achieve GOATA movement, although it will obviously take months or years to make a lot of progress.

Are you not supposed to walk heel first?

Are you not supposed to walk heel first?
@legendarykennen no youβre supposed to put most of the weight in the front of the foot
-
@Swansven So this basically maximizes the output from human physiology with less strain/stress?
Each human has unique anatomy also so I think that is important also to consider.
-
@Rabbi I know this is 4 months old but even though no human is exactly the same, every human without defects is still designed the same way. So theyβre supposed to move the same way.
-
@Liverlover The whole thing feels shaky. In nature humans live in chaotic environments and movement is chaotic and unpredictable.
Not like everyone would be robots who do goata even in nature.
@Rabbi well yeah even more in chaotic environments you need stable and coΓΆrdinated movement. They actually observed that natural tribes move this way bc they werenβt corrupted by modern environments. Or look at almost any animal. They all got the same pattern. If you saw a dog walking with duck feet youβd think somethings wrong but itβs become so normal for humans. Youβre born goata btw most ppl just lose it over time.

@Elliott87 yeah itβs a man made concept to describe something natural. The primal diet is also man made aajonus books are man made. But the foods are natural.

@Liverlover All concepts are man-made bud

@Liverlover u criticise aajonus concepts because they are βman madeβ yet talk about goatis movement or whatever

@Elliott87 Iβm not even criticising just saying the primal diet and goata movement are equally man made so how can you say thatβs unacceptable
-
Goata is just a man made solution to a man made problem to get back to your natural state. Here are some videos you can just sense the goata guys gait look more right.
