I used to think this since your gut microbiome makes rougly 90% of the trytophane giving your brain more precursors to make seratonin, until I learned that seratonin doesnt even make you happier its actually uneccesary maximise it since it just makes your cortisol spikes longer and higher in magnitude by two pathways. 1. Seratonin The central route : Serotonin acts on receptors in the hypothalamus that trigger the release of CRH. CRH then signals the pituitary to release ACTH, and ACTH is what tells the adrenal glands to produce cortisol. (From the Brain Seratonin pool), 2. Seratonin The direct route : Seratonin from the gut microbiome reaches the adrenal cortex and binds to specific Receptors that signal to start producing cortisol. These two pathways prove that it doesnt do anything to be happier so did I miss a other claim or did I misunderstood that a bad microbiome causes deppresion or unhappiness

Your mental health is linked to your gut more than anything. It's where the saying comes from you are what you eat.
There is so little we understand about the gut microbiome but we have to make informed decisions on what to eat, by what we have always eaten. i.e Raw meat.

@veloman yeah correct but that cant effect your brains mood in any way even if it would make you happier (which it doesnt) only the trytophane makes gets through the gut-brain-axis
-
@Ghar1b no, MOST of the serotonin doesn’t cross into the brain, some does. Your brain and stomach are directly linked. While I agree it’s not the only contributing factor to happiness, it plays a part

@veloman you dont know what ur talking abt, I said trytophane from your gut microbiome enter through the gut brain axis thats the precursor of seratonin in your brain bruh
-
@Ghar1b the gut microbiome determines how much tryptophan is metabolized and therefore affects serotonin levels in the brain
