depends how good quality it is, great quality food and fish can also be sold on supermarket, there is no rule that says "only low quality food is sold on supermarket". so usually low quality salmon feels mushy, and good quality feels more solid when you press it.

@Rabbi got it ! yea my salmon seems low quality cuz its soft (im defrosting it in water so that might contribute) and has a brown line in the middle which feels off
