I've been drinking sparkling water my whole life. Recently, I did some research and realized that it might not be optimal. Are the negative effects really that noticeable, especially when drinking sparkling water before or after eating raw foods?

I usually drink a small amount of sparkling water both before and after my meals, whether they're cooked or raw. Is this something I should be concerned about?

Yes, it's not optimal. The added carbonation can irritate digestion and injected CO₂ isn't something our bodies naturally evolved to consume. If you want the healthiest option, stick to natural spring water. If you enjoy bubbles naturally fermented drinks like raw milk kefir are a better choice since their carbonation is produced by beneficial bacteria.

well swallowing carbonated water is very unpleasant compared to fermented raw milk and I assume everyone here feel this way. Its actually terrible and it would be much better if you shaked all the carbonation out cause it is harmful. Aajonus talked about this and you can look it up on aajonus.net if you search "carbonated bacteria" (carbonated + bacteria). Try drinking raw milk or raw blood or raw homemade juices instead for hydration. But I suppose sparkling water isnt too bad and if you desperately want it in small ammounts.

Enjoy the raw milk and get healthy!

@Duta-M Water as a source of hydration isn't optimal, but it isn't necessarily unhealthy.

If you're drinking sparkling water, you should always make sure that it's in a glass bottle and clearly states "Naturally sparkling water", the naturally has to come before sparkling, that's how you know it is legit.

You shouldn't be having any water with your meals, as they dilute them. As for raw meat, there's enough water in there to hydrate you.
If you want to continue having sparkling water with your meals, I'd recommend taking a ~60-minute break between your meal and water.

          Aristotle, Ayn, Aajonus.
