Ive seen Aajonus Vonderplanitz talk about vegetable juice many times, he says it helps the body detox from heavy metals and toxins. Is there any actual evidence to this, does it work? And are there any downsides to this?

@mynamematu It seems like the concentrated antinutrients are causing the detox symptoms, it's not that it's causing detox from existing toxins but the toxins that are in the body but from the vegetables antinutrients itself need to be detoxed. Vegetable juice is concentrated liquid consisting of relatively high amounts of vegetables.
Vegetables have antinutrients that act as poisons especially to insects that defend the vegetable as they don't have "flight or fight response" like animals and insects have. And these antinutrients are toxic and cause detox symptoms for humans also.

@Rabbi So it's just causing detox symptoms, not actual detox?
In my opinion and research vegetable juices don't detox the toxins already in your body before the vegetable juice.
But the body detoxes the vegetable juice antinutrients and that causes detox yes, it only removes the toxins on the vegetable juice itself.
Raw animal foods do cause detox though. I recommend them only. Can't recommend vegetable juices.

@mynamematu You should watch Resident raw video on this
@Elina There's a theory that Aajonus was just promoting some juice maker companies, not actually believing in the effects of the juice itself. It kinda matches up if you ask me. I watched the video on vegetable juice by Resident Raw and I'll be honest, he seems to also just be promoting his course, which has a electronics in it like a vegetable juice machine, and he only reccomends one by a specific company. Also FaceIQ and Resident raw are good friends by my knowledge, but faceIQ does not promote any vegetable juices, which feels weird because I would think FaceIQ and Resident Raw would have similar enough views on this matter considering their close friendship. So to sum it up, seems to me everyone who's promoting vegetable juice, has a possible agenda for doing it.

@mynamematu they aren't really that close but resident raw sort of takes everything aajonus says at face value so his content is good if you want to learn about aajonus' methods. It somewhat makes sense that making your system more alkaline could be beneficial in today's situation. I don't really know though.

@Swansven Yeah the alkalinity theory might be real. I haven't really done my research on it so I have no oppositions on it currently. But the way he discredited the anti-nutrients/toxins in celery in that video, seemed off to me. He basically just threw them out the window if you ask me. So I think there might be some truth to that, but for now I'll skip the vegetable juice.
