Toxins in work environments
-
Does anyone else feel like they work in a toxic work environment as far as toxins your breathing or touching?
I cut hair for work and find we use so many chemicals. From barbicide, aerosol sprays, pomades, shaving creams, shampoo and conditioners. I wear gloves for washing hair and styling but its harder to wear them while cutting. My co workers seems to spray so much hairspray and clippercide. I almost question if i should try to work somewhere else but I am make decent money to support myself and animals so I dont really know if I will find one equal to or greater than im already making.
But even shampooing peoples heads I feel bad im putting toxins into them.. same with products.
I do tell clients to stop using regular shampoo and conditioners how the chemicals are not good. I recommend acv, egg yolk and honey blend and some have switched.
One option is I could try to open my own shop that is more health conscious and promotes natural ways. The area I live in may go for that.
Other option move my farm off grid but in america from what i have read no wheres really free..

Yeah before you mentioned I was thinking of suggesting opening your own shop and market it as a 'natural beauty' salon. As long as you don't make it gimmicky and woo-woo, I think there's definitely a market for it.
It would require you to do more research on chemical replacements, natural treatments, etc. ... but this is literally opportunity if done seriously and right

@vyvultra definitely research alternative healthy options. I also thought of having an area out side to cut with more free flowing air. It would be more seasonal due to weather but I think it would be so peaceful and relaxing for people. To take a moment and pause soaking in nature.

Also yes I definitely work in a heavy metals environment. I breathe soot, carbon monoxide, rust, industrial vapors, etc almost all day. Cheese trains.
@vyvultra unfortunate we have to be in these toxic environments. i wonder if certain masks would help or be worth it. thank goodness for cheese.

@integrity honestly since you work in hair it'd benefit the community if you kind of became specialized in the topic as like a raw primal hair expert. The segway into a niche market and product (your shop) is then inevitable
@vyvultra yes i've also been researching how the hair manifest the health of our inner terrain. From dryness of scalp to color of hair. The bodies state of moisture and minerals. To link them together help people chainge their health.
