This used to be made out of bones of their prey (or their cattle). They wanted to show that there is a natural hierarchy within the human species also, not just between species.</p>
<p dir="auto">Poeple nowadays imitate that with mostly metal, because they still want to show that they are better than the poeple who don't have that. They basically still believe in the natural hierarchy, even though too many of them want some false form of "equality".</p>
